mc hammer pants are back in style?

i was recently sifting through some fashion blog entries from 2007, and read many complaints about a trend that was regaining some popularity. "genie pants are back? really?" one blogger wrote, referring to the harem pant. apparently the answer is yes. these pants, which create a billowing silhouette, have been appearing on the runway for the ss '09 season.

this trend isn't only on the runway. i was shopping at forever 21 this past week and spotted a pair of pants that vaguely reminded me of aladdin. i almost felt compelled to buy them. almost.
